Kenya's capital is your gateway to the national parks and reserves where you'll enjoy your safari. Nairobi is a dynamic, intriguing city, rich in local culture. It has a number of wildlife-themed attractions to help get you excited about what lies ahead. Nairobi also has wonderful restaurants serving a range of cuisines, as well as good nightlife, busy markets and excellent accommodation.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

There's so much for you to enjoy when you visit Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Across the conservancy's high-altitude savannah grasslands and with views of distant mountains, expect to see both black and white rhinos, as well as lion, cheetah, hyena, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and zebra; you could see the Big Five here. Ol Pejeta protects the last two surviving northern white rhinos on earth, and there's a rehabilitation center for captive chimpanzees. With over 500 bird species recorded here, birders will love this place too.

The plateau is filled with conservancies with strong roots in local communities and equally strong conservation programs. They're also well known for their fabulous wildlife-viewing experiences, with big cats and rhinos very often a part of the mix here. Most of the conservancies have exclusive tented camps and lodges, which makes for a wonderfully intimate safari experience.
